An old lady asking for alms, carrying a small altar of Saint Lazaro. Next to her a little girl passing by dressed in typical Cuban school uniform. Every year on the 17th Dec San Lazaro reprise is celebrated. This is with no doubt the most important on the Cuban “Santeria” calendar. The “Santeria” is a religious syncretism that comes from the encounter of the 19th century Catholicism and the African religion, Yoruba. This cult , born among the slaves in the first half of the 19th century, is practices by about 70% of the Cubans.
